Marc Siegel

Marc Siegel (Co-Artistic Director, Managing Director) of Dance Theatre of Oregon and DTO II with Pamela his wife, is a recipient of a Ford Foundation Scholarship to the School of American Ballet at age 13 and received a 1996 Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship in Choreography. He received his B.S. in dance from the University of Oregon and his MA from UCLA. He was a soloist with Le Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo on four national and International tours in “Isadora Deconstructed”. He has also danced with the Eugene Ballet Company, Dance L.A., and was a soloist with the UCLA Dance Company in Helsinki, Finland. Marc played “Schleperello” for PDQ Bach’s “The Abduction of Figaro”. He has taught modern dance at Yale University and his dance accompaniment credits (voice and percussion) include New York University, Yale, UCLA, Peridance Center in NYC for Graham dancers and the Jose Limon School and Alvin Ailey School. He is well known in Oregon for his musical and theatrical roles with numerous companies including the role of the Emcee in Eugene Festival of Musical Theatre's production of “Cabaret” and the lead role in LCC's "Scapino” and "Autolycus“ The Winters Tale” directed by Sparky Roberts and directed her at Lord Leebrick Co., in a one woman piece, "The Price of Admission”. He has choreographed and performed for Eugene Opera the last three years, singing with Christian Knoll. He has also performed with Eugene Symphony, Oregon Bach Festival, Eugene Concert Choir, Oregon Mozart Players, OFAM’s Jazz Kings and Ragozzino Productions for many corporate shows over 15 years. Marc loves to sing jazz, soul, r & b with his quartet,  Le Bop Hot. He is an instructor at the Eugene School of Ballet. Marc has created over twenty five original works for DTO at Hult enter and on tour through the western states and BC, some with his own music compositions. Marc gives a shout out to Liz his mom who began him tapping at age 5 and is still teaching at age 80, after her successful operatic career.

Pamela Lehan-Siegel

Pamela Lehan-Siegel (Co-Artistic Director) who holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and a BFA from the University of Utah, began her study of dance in New Jersey and with Albia Kavan and Rex Cooper in Jackson, Ms. before embarking on a professional career at age 17 performing with Ballet West of Salt Lake City before moving to NYC. There she studied ballet at the Joffrey School and with David Howard and modern dance with numerous modern dance luminaries including Ruth Currier of the Limon company, Louis Falco and Paul Taylor. She performed professionally with David Parsons, Pat Catterson and Senta Driver. and has taught and choreographed extensively, founding Lehan and Company/Dance in 1986 in NYC. Her choreography has been commissioned by ballet and modern companies in New York, New Jersey, Mississippi and Oregon. She has performed regionally as both actress and dancer with the Eugene Ballet, Eugene Festival of Musical Theatre, Eugene Opera, Eugene Symphony, Lord Leebrick Theater Company, Oregon Festival of American Music and in local TV commercials. Locally, she has choreographed for the Eugene Opera, Eugene Symphony and Ragozzino Productions. She is currently a a full time instructor at The Eugene School of Ballet and is a Lane County "Artist in Education".

 

Phil McBeth

Phil McBeth (Lighting Designer) attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle where he worked at the Broadway Performance Hall. He has served as Technical Director for Do Jump Movement Theatre's Big Fun in Portland, Venues Stage Manager for Seattle's Fringe Festival, the Eugene Celebration EWEB Dance Stage, DTO's Swine Dive Performance Series and many other DTO productions at the Hult and on the road. He is currently Technical Director for the Majestic Theatre in Corvallis. He has also designed lighting for the Opera Theatre of Corvallis, Oregon Dance and Corvallis Community Theatre. Phil has worked with DTO for 15 years on twenty-seven Hult Center performances and three Northwest and BC tours.

 

Eric C. Smith

Eric C. Smith has trained in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and other styles of dance. He is the Assistant Managing Director of the DTO and a member of the board of directors. Since 1987 he has worked with many other artists and groups including Oregon Dance, Oslund and Co., Dance, the Jefferson Dancers, and the Eugene Ballet Company. Eric has choreographed many works, including a couple of pieces for theater. He has also worked professionally as an actor, musician, model and stand up comic. He graduated with a degree in Asian Studies from the University of Oregon and is currently enjoying a career in software and strategic business development.

 

Kyra Ynez Siegel

Kyra Siegel, a 4th grader at Fox Hollow/ Charlemagne French Immersion School is an avid student, gymnast, dancer and actress/singer whose performance career began at the Hult Center at six months of age. She has performed and toured extensively with DTO and DTO II. Recent lead roles include: Mowgli in The Jungle Book; Mamillius in LCC’s, The Winter’s Tale; Gracie Shinn in LSMT’s The Music Man; Mr. Nilsson in DTO’s Pippi Longstocking. Other performance credits include work with OFAM’s Wizard of Oz , Cottage Theatre’s Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music, and Oliver, and Eugene Ballet Company’s Dracula. She will appear in the role of Heidi at the Hult Center in DTO’s February production.

 

Melissa Kanavel

Melissa began her early training with Beatrice Engles of the Netherlands.  After high school she continued her education through Rider University's partnership with American Repertory Ballet's Princeton Ballet School where she danced in the Professional Training Program and American Repertory Ballet Workshop.  At RU, Melissa studied with Douglas Martin, Mary Barton, Maria Youskevitch, Kim Chandler-Vaccaro and many more notable teachers and choreographers. Melissa graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts and went on to dance with Roxey Ballet Contemporary for three seasons.  This is Melissa's first season with DTO.

 

Alaina Dunker

Alaina Dunker recently graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in business administration in the honors program as well as minors in dance and music. Originally from Fort Collins, CO, Alaina has been dancing since she was 8, performing with The Mountain Moving Company, Fort Collins Children’s Theatre, and Opera Fort Collins. Since arriving in Eugene, Alaina has performed with the Dance Theatre of Oregon, UO Repertory Dance Company, and currently teaches and dances at Ta-Da Dance Productions Studio. When she’s not dancing, Alaina loves to drink coffee and read books.

 

Lindy Lou Smith

Lindy Lou 

Lindy Lou Smith is 15 years old.  She has been involved with dance and theatre for over twelve years.  Lindy has danced with DTO I for one year and has been a member of their children’s company (DTO II) for the past six years.  With DTO II, she has performed leading roles in The Nuttycracker, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pippi Longstocking, and The Jungle Book.  Lindy is currently a member of the Eugene Youth Ballet.  She has also performed in many productions with the Eugene Ballet Company and has toured the Pacific Northwest with them in their production of The Nutcracker.  Lindy also has a love for musical theatre.  She has been in productions with Oregon Festival of American Music (OFAM), and performs regularly at the Cottage Theatre.
