Move the Student Body

Move the Student Body!

DTO's groundbreaking MOVE THE STUDENT BODY! DTO has given free tickets to youth at Eugene Ballet Academy, formerly Eugene School of Ballet, Looking Glass and Big Brother Big Sister Programs for "at risk" youth to attend children's performances at the Hult Center. DTO has sponsorships for this program from companies such as Sony Disc

Manufacturing, Selco Credit Union and Pacific Continental Bank.

In 2003-04 DTO was in 2-3 week artist residencies at Veneta, Elmira, Magnet Arts and Gilham Elementary schools in Oregon through the Lane Arts Council's Artists in Education. The residencies taught dance and related subjects such as geography, anatomy, sequencing and cultures of the world with an ending performance assembly.

DTO was making one-day site visits to elementary schools through "FIT" grants with Lane Educational Services District (Lane ESD) in which young people in K-5 grades learned dance vocabulary and performed their work at the end of the workshop in an all school assembly. DTO completed over 40 site visits.

DTO has been on the roster for 5 consecutive years with Young Audiences of Oregon and SW Washington performing their dynamic assembly program "Dance: From Broadway to the Silver Screen".
